Keep your banner text short and sweet! You only have a few seconds to get your message across, so don’t try to get them to read a book. If your banner has too much text, the viewer will skip it all together.
Make it simple- start with your logo and perhaps a product shot. An effective banner usually consists of a simple picture of whatever you are promoting, then one main line of text (i.e. "half off appetizers on Tuesday" or "free oil change with detail".) You can then add a second line of text with the details of your offer, (i.e. "one per customer" or "not valid with any discounts".)
Remember that your banner is like a small billboard- "Got Milk?" is all the text needed on top of an image of a movie star with a milk mustache. So, keep it simple and make a bold statement.
